The International Music Summit Aims to Awaken The Dragon - IMS China 2015
International Music Summit – basically the TED talks of electronic music – is about to explore the new frontier. Asia is a baby in the game of dance music – an interesting concept considering the territory harbors the majority of the world’s population. However, combinations of culture, regional strife, government laws, distance from the epicenter of dance (namely, Europe and North America), have all played roles in the region taking a huge backseat to EDM in terms of exposure. That notion, however, is quickly drawing to a close, as China begins to rear its head as one of the fastest growing markets for dance music in the world.

In conjunction with the region’s biggest festival, STORM, IMS is bringing its heralded conference to China in order to explore why and how the region has become so integral in the global growth of dance music. IMS China will showcase key speakers and members of the dance community at large – Above & Beyond manager and Anjunadeep boss James Grant, Tiesto manager Andrew Goldstone, AM Only agent Matt Rodriguez, founder of STORM festival Eric Zho, and many more will all be present to discuss how their jobs and acts have reacted and adjusted to the new frontier offered by China. IMS China will also see the surfacing of the now expected IMS Business Report. This particular one will focus specifically on the impact and the footprint of dance music in the Chinese region. For more information on the event, and if you want to hop on a flight to China to attend, visit the IMS website.
