Google Just Changed The Audio Streaming Game With This Affordable Device

Google changed the way everything was streamed conveniently from people’s mobile devices wirelessly to their video displays with Chromecast. Now. There’s Chromecast 2 and the brand new Chromecast Audio. Think of it as just streaming the audio portion of the original device and turning your speakers (junky or not) into a wifi powered, soon to be multi-room compatible game changer for home audio systems.

Supporting 3.5mm auxiliary input, RCA jacks or an optical input, this hockey pucked-shaped gadget will finally support Spotify alongside Google Play Music, BBC Radio iPlayer and Deezer among others. It’s biggest feature is that it’s price point, $35, costs far less than any of it’s closest competitor, the Sonos Connect, runs around $350. No word yet their supposed “world-class DAC” but even if the sound quality isn’t exactly up to par with Sonos, $35 compared to $350 is a no brainer choice. As with it’s ancestor, download the app and you’re ready to stream to your hearts content. Even take a phone call or leave the room and the music continues to play. Can’t wait to see this in action.
