Having caught the attention of Odesza with his predominantly percussive style, Big Wild has collaborated with saxophone king Griz and hip-hop artist Talib Kewli on a huge track called “For the Love”. Releasing this new track simultaneously with his announcement as opener for Griz’s upcoming ‘Super Shagadelic Tour’, it’s inevitable we’ll hear more from and about Big Wild in the upcoming season.
Composing seemingly sporadic vinyl scratches, crystalized raindrop pings and whimsically clumsy bass melodies into a masterful work of organized chaos, Big Wild drives this track with idiosyncratic rhythms instead of the massive melodies we usually hear dominating a song. A fresh use of Griz’s funky sax riffs as well, “For the Love” is a quirky orchestration of interesting beats and chill vibes that I hope continues to shine more light onto this talented producer.
