The Magician – Sunlight Ft. Years & Years (Max Liese Remix)
Known for his original version of ‘Sunlight‘ and his Lykke Li’s ‘I Follow Rivers‘ remix (arguably one of the best pop remixes to date), The Magician has been given the same treatment once again, this time by Max Liese, a German DJ with an ear for good electronica. And with the rising popularity of Years & Years, especially in the states, Max’s remix couldn’t have dropped at a better time. Max is still new, but with a SoundCloud page full of remixes, he’ll soon follow The Magician‘s footsteps and become known for his remixed work before his original tracks gain recognition.
It’s almost an entirely different song from the original. By adding piano, altering the disco vibes, and experimenting with Olly Alexander‘s vocals, the remix makes the original more immediate and club-friendly. Max does an amazing job of showcasing his aesthetic, allowing himself to really change a song without destroying it.
