It was only a year ago at Coachella that there were still artists making sarcastic remarks about dance music producers not playing instruments. Coachella is one of the more interesting large festivals because it combines all genres and includes classic rock legends like AC/DC. While dance music gets its own stage in the Sahara Tent, this year Axwell /\ Ingrosso , Flosstradamus and Kaskade graced the main stages, bringing EDM to the forefront of popular culture. In Weekend 1 it was Alesso’s set that was the most shared on social media and for both weekends Kaskade attracted the largest crowds of the year. As an artist who hails from California, Kaskade said his “eyes popped out and jaw dropped” when he saw an image of the crowd taken from a crane. In terms of numbers, Calvin Harris attracted the 2nd largest crowd in Coachella history with his performance last year while the largest crowd still remains the infamous Tupac hologram performance with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. When the latest numbers come out, it’s safe to say Kaskade will be in good company at the top of Coachella history.
