Throwback Thursday, Planet Funk – Chase The Sun

Planet Funk
We’re throwing it back to the year 200, folks. Fifteen years ago, Planet Funk, a relatively unknown electronic dance music ensemble from Italy, released a breakthrough track by the name ‘Chase The Sun’. The track is a beautiful slice of melodic house from an era filled with gems, and its easy to see why it reached number 5 on the UK singles chart in 2001.

The main lead of ‘Chase the Sun’ is a rendition of Ennio Morricone’s tune ‘Alla Luce Del Giorno’, from the score of the 1969 film Metti, una sera a cena. Its the kind of riff that you can sing out, and Planet Funk did a great job of creating a summer anthem from it, adding enticing vocals that match its tune, alongside tribal vocals and string sections in its breakdown. This is a true dance classic.
