Porter Robinson Discusses Ghost Producing a ‘Well Known’ Track

Over the past year or more, it seems like the controversial topic of ghost productions has been the center of more debates than ever before. Up-and-coming young bloods see the limelight one week, only to be discredited and defamed the next as they are ousted for paying their way to the top. At the same time, some of the biggest names in the game go back and forth, taking shots and calling out their peers for buying their fame from the get-go.

Whether it’s for the pro’s or the con’s of ghost producing as a whole, many of the scenes largest producers have publicly expressed their philosophies on the matter. Most recently, in an interview with Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1, Porter Robinson predominantly denied and discredited the act of ghost producing as a whole except for one signature “well know” dance track.

“It was a collaboration with a friend and then I took my name off it before it came out because it didn’t feel right for me. The end product wasn’t something I was happy with.”

It would seem that the song was originally produced as a collaboration between himself and a good friend, Porter Robinson came to the conclusion that he did not like the end result. This resulted in him dropping his name from the tracks credits, leaving only the collaborator as the single producer.
