Diplo has a reputation of being able to find the next big sound. Via his Mad Decent record label, the man has successfully discovered and launched many artists into recognizable careers. Diplo’s approach and prowess in identifying new talent is incredible and well documented, and makes him and his label one of the most sought out dance coalitions in the world. The label boss has proven he knows his music, and he does so again with his newest “Diplo & Friends”. Diplo received over 1,000 submissions and from that he was able to create a set of 54 tracks, all from producers that are, for the most part, unsigned and/or underground. The mix challenges those who are willful followers of big-name stars to take a chance on the not-so-well-known producers of the game. It’s an endeavor we wish more high profile producers would take apart in, as finding and curating new music is a win win for everybody in the scene.
