Avicii – Lay Me Down (ft. Adam Lambert & Nile Rodgers)

Avicii Lambert Rodgers

Who says disco is dead? In a year that saw a funk/disco track from a legendary EDM duo go on to become the song of the summer (of course referring to “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk), it should be no surprise that other DJs are also finding success with the genre. Avicii has made no secret that his sound would be evolving this year, releasing the first previews during his set at Ultra Music Festival 2013. His latest preview off of the upcoming debut studio album is called “Lay Me Down”, and was described by the Swedish DJ as “kind of very disco.”

Featuring vocals from Adam Lambert and instrumental support from disco legend Nile Rodgers, it certainly lives up to that description. If the second name sounds familiar, it may be because the former Chic guitarist played an integral role on that summer anthem from Daft Punk. Here, his guitar gives the track a strong ‘70’s vibe, and a funky electro beat is a great backing for Lambert’s vocals. Avicii’s forthcoming album, True, is scheduled for release on September 17th.
