“Housier and cooler but still fun” is how Laidback Luke describes his latest remix of “Turn the Night Up”. While it might not be quite as “housey” as some of Luke’s own material, it’s certainly an example of the difference in a dance track between a pop artist and a certified EDM talent. The Dutch-Filipino producer infuses a healthy dose of energy, hardening the underwhelming beat and replacing the original melody with a more sophisticated dirty-dutch transplant. The song structure is delicately altered, losing some of the vocals so that the track can continue to build after the drop, which provides it with some much-needed dimension. “Housier and cooler” indeed.
