Porter Robinson’s alter ego, Virtual Self, has been taking the industry by storm. The new alias takes the producer’s classic sound and injects it it with a world of other influences that ultimately results in compositions that no one except Porter could ever even dream of.
His latest material that he released under this alias is a music video for his song Particle Arts. The soft, warm three-dimensional images pair perfectly with the uptempo and aggressive electronica going on behind it. What starts as a small virtual flower, over the course of the video, quickly blossoms into a full grown tree as the world comes alive around it.
The track itself, Particle Arts, lays its foundations with powerful distorted drums. This leaves plenty of room for the chipper and dazzling melodies and vocal sound bites to work their magic over the top.
