The techno community is one of the tightest knit and also one of the toughest to please in dance music. Who can blame them? They have sky high standards for a good reason. Today when Detroit’s Movement Festival dropped its 2018 lineup fans were ticked off at some “off the wall” bookings.

From Wu Tang Clan, Too Short, and Mija to Diplo the criticism came in heavy. Diplo took the brunt of some of the fiercest criticism, and he responded in kind. Despite the hate Diplo is no stranger to genre exploration, dropping the occasional hip-hop, dancehall, and even tech set. Will this go off or will it be a bust? That remains to me seen.
