Papa Roach – Periscope [EMRSV REMIX]
Nu metal quartet Papa Roach commissioned SoCal’s EMRSV to revamp “Periscope (feat. Skylar Grey).” Eleven Seven Music released Papa Roach’s ninth studio record Crooked Teeth, debuting at number one on Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Albums during the week of June 10, 2017. EMRSV’s electropop take on “Periscope,” preserves Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix and Skylar Grey’s unsheltered voices like an open wound.
The hype aroused by their 2000 single “Last Resort,” resulted in Papa Roach’s LP Infest going platinum three times! Two of many noteworthy works triple-threat (i.e., singer, songwriter, producer) Skylar Grey envisioned are Eminem and Rihanna‘s “Love the Way You Lie” and Kaskade‘s “Room for Happiness.” Skylar Grey’s experience touching multiple musical genres gave Papa Roach the ability to branch out; Evan Arch and Wyatt Hemerson (EMRSV) have cornered the remix market, creating reworkings with Gryffin & Illenium, Madden and Bryce Fox.
“When we first heard ‘Persicope,’ we were blown away by the song,” stated EMRSV. “We could just feel the raw emotion Skylar and Jacoby’s voices brought to the track. We were super excited to get the opportunity to add our touch to it and work with artists we’ve grown up listening to. We wanted to incorporate some powerful chords and uplifting strings to really accentuate the emotion in the song and bring to life its dance music potential.”
