Nile Rodgers Declares He’s 100% Cancer-Free

Nile Rodgers

American record producer, songwriter, musician, composer, arranger and guitarist Nile Rodgers can now add cancer survivor to his long list of awe-inspiring credentials. In 2010, Rodgers was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer. In the midst of Nile’s 2011
post-operative recovery period, he and Daft Punk recorded Random Access Memories‘ “Get Lucky,” “Lose Yourself To Dance” and “Give Life Back To Music.” This session rejuvenated Rodgers’ passion for not only music but life.

Rodgers’ disco/funk ensemble CHIC opened for Earth, Wind & Fire at the Air Canada Centre on August 13, 2017 sans Nile; E.coli infiltrated his body. During Rodgers’ hospital stay, doctors detected a cancerous mass. After the unwelcome discovery on Nile’s right kidney, he finished out CHIC’s tour frequenting South America, Dubai, Japan, Ireland, Liverpool, London and lastly Brooklyn, N.Y. The next day Rodgers had surgery at Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital, removing the malignant growth.

“My prognosis is 100% recovery (You can start dancing, singing and cheering now!),” said Rodgers.
