Avicii – Without You (Remixes)

For many millenials and twenty-somethings, Tim Bergling, the Swedish artist better known as Avicii, is one of the seminal acts responsible for the American EDM explosion of the 2010’s. Showing the dance community that he wouldn’t be pigeonholed into one sound, he followed his anthemic smashes, ‘Levels’ and ‘Fade Into Darkness’, with an album that forever changed the parameters of what this genre entailed, 2013’s True. His writing of dreamy drops combined with choruses that made the world sing. Simply put, his music is truly magic at 128 BPM.

After years of battling debilitating illness and scaring fans worldwide by announcing he would stop touring, the sound that made him a worldwide phenomenon is back. His EP, AVICI (01), features five originals and an official remix, each of which feature the seminal, progressive Avicii sound. ‘Without You’, a Sandro Cavazza collab reminiscent of his past hit ‘You Make Me’, now has a remix collection featuring something for every dance music fan.

NOTRE DAME’s remix brings a combination of deep and tropical house elements, creating a danceable track with an energetic feel. Lifelong friend and progressive house collaborator Otto Knows blends his traditional progressive sound with Avicii’s original, keeping the soul of the original but incorporating a compelling drop that is a throwback to his anthems, ‘Million Voices’, ‘Next to Me’, and ‘Can’t Stop Drinking About You’.

           Otto Knows & Avicii

Surprisingly, the Otto Knows remix isn’t the highest streamed track on the EP, as Mark & Kremont‘s remix amassed over three hundred thousand plays on Spotify already, tripling the totals for Otto Knows and Tomika Tokio’s remixes. Fans of Tchami’s ‘You Know You Like It’ remix will find a kindred spirit in the Mark & Kremont track, utilizing the rhythmic buildup and simple drop to cultivate a club smash. Don’t sleep on the last track, as Adans delivers a tropical house banger to round out the tracklist.
