Fentanyl Found in Several Samples of Cocaine

The opioid pain medication, fentanyl and some fentanyl analogues have the ability to be up to 10,000 times more potent than morphine. While testing several samples of cocaine, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Drug Investigation Division (DID) discovered traces of the potent substance. The DID has now issued a public warning for the entire nation following the results of these tests.

Fentanyl was primarily found in heroin pills, but now that it is being found in cocaine (a much more commonly used drug), it has a huge potential risk of being fatal. Several side effects of fentanyl include, diarrhea, nausea, constipation, dry mouth, confusion, weakness, sweating, abdominal pain, and headache. The chemical is produced illegally and has been responsible for thousands of heroin overdoses since 2000. Just one dose could cost someone’s life. If you’re a recreational drug user, ALWAYS make sure to test your stuff. You can read more about the dangers of untested drug use here.
