EDC Vegas 2018 Moves to May, Adds Glamping, & Reimagines Shuttles

The big EDC announcement is finally upon us. You can catch your breath for a second. Now that you’ve collected yourself, let’s dive in and lay out the changes.

Hey, May

EDC Las Vegas 2018 is officially moving from Father’s Day weekend in June to the cooler May 18-20 weekend before Memorial Day Weekend. This has been long rumored to help alleviate overheating which is brutal in the desert in June.

CAMPING FINALLY!

The other huge change is that EDC is officially a glamping festival now. We say “glamping” because the options are all quite comfortable and will surely entice you away from those pricey Vegas hotels, expensive shuttles, and long commutes. The added benefit is that the daily traffic to and from the festival will be greatly reduced, though the daily parking will be too. Rest assured, you won’t be schlepping pounds of camp gear through the desert. The camping options are as follows:

  • Rent an air-conditioned GA tent decked out with dust-control canvas walls, comfortable
artificial grass, and electrical outlets for up to six attendees, max.
  • Rent an air-conditioned Premier tent complete with dust-control canvas walls,
comfortable artificial grass, twin or queen-sized beds, linens, pillows, towels, tables,
chairs, and lights for up to two or four attendees, max.
  • Bring your own RV and hook it up to the pre-arranged power on-site.
  • Rent an RV fully set up and ready for arrival, complete with linens and pillows provided
    by Insomniac.

The camping areas will also have vendors, activities, water, shade, food/drink, and even “sound camps” for themed environments.

New Shuttle Service & Extended Hours

EDC is a dance music festival company, not a bus or traffic service. Finally in 2018 Insomniac is handing over the reigns to an independent team that operates the nation’s largest music and sporting events (which sounds like Live Nation).

To help lower the rush, the festival will open earlier and feature special opening ceremonies at the cosmicMeadow that will consist of extended sets and cool downs. This sounds similar to Tomorrowland’s Daybreak Sessions where you would see DJs performing for 3 hours to get the early crowd in sooner.

Price & On Sale Dates

Tickets go on sale September 28 at noon. General Admission tickets start at $325 while VIP goes for $699. There is a new Wise Owl tier for $340 and the final tier will be $355. None of these prices includes tax/fees. There will also be layaway options.
