Spotify Services will be Coming to Xbox One Soon

As technology continues to progress and impress us, there is one music, podcast and video streaming service that seems to be dominating many of our devices – Swedish company Spotify. Recently the 140 million users were informed that the application was indeed on it’s way to the Xbox One family of consoles.

A Reddit user recently reported and later The Verge confirmed that Spotify is coming to the Xbox One. The application was first uncovered by the observant Reddit user who noticed the creative Xbox Live director of programming, Major Nelson, or to some Larry Hryb, utilizing and testing the streaming service through the gaming console (seen below). Polygon’s sister site, A.K.A. The Verge, later acknowledge that the Xbox Live director of programming’s findings were indeed correct.

Technology enthusiasts from around the world have become slightly frustrated by the poorly designed UIX (user interface and experience) and by the extremely limited options for accessing music through the PS4’s version of Spotify. Over the course of two years, PlayStation 3 and 4 remained the only option to utilize the streaming application. Sony sources reported that Spotify was an “exclusive partner” of the PlayStation gaming consoles. It was also been stated by The Verge’s representatives that the streaming service is currently being tested in an internal basis at one of Microsoft’s locations.

Speaking of Microsoft, they took the world of technology by storm when they released a desktop application for Spotify though the Windows Store back in June of this year. Although the Windows application is almost identical to the one that many can download through Spotify’s wonderful website, there has been some pleasant updates to the added support that the Windows Store delivers.

The official release date for the Xbox One Spotify application still remains unclear – however, Xbox will allegedly allow its users to listen to Daily Mixes and the users Discovery Weekly playlists. One thing is for certain, Spotify is continuing to dominate as a tool to discovery new music, podcasts and videos where the PS4 alternative is practically useless at this point. The good news is: as these fantastic tools continue to progress and gain popularity, the users can only expect them to improve from now into the future.
