Grant, Anevo, & Conro – Without You (Feat. Victoria Zaro)
Future bass fans rejoice—there’s a new collab out and it is pure fire. Spearheading the upcoming Monstercat Uncaged Vol. 2 compilation album release, producers Grant, Anevo, and Conro join forces on ‘Without You’, a dynamic future bass single featuring vocals by Victoria Zaro. With the Canadian record label’s compilation album set to drop on Friday, August 25, this track is the perfect appetizer for what will certainly be a great collection of songs.
The track begins with sparse, plucked synths, which are soon joined by Zaro’s airy vocals, a rubbery synth bass, and multi-layered percussion, with the rhythms interweaving with a Latin influence. Electric guitar engages in counterpoint to Zaro’s vocals as elements continue to build on one another. Soft synth chords accent the chorus while Zaro sings the song’s thesis: “I’m better off without you.” The drop doesn’t let down, as stuttering, syncopated future bass synth stabs interact with chopped and pitched vocal samples in a production that is intricately-detailed, crisp, and highly-energetic. The track concludes three and a half minutes in with an elegant piano riff over tropical rhythms in an ending that begs for the replay button.
The three producers have been having a busy year this year. Conro released his debut EP, Connecting the Dots, earlier this month, and three of the tracks from the EP will be featured on the compilation. Anevo has released a number of remixes as well as original tracks this year, including ‘Waiting On Your Call’ featuring Park Avenue and ‘Waking Up’ featuring Heather Summer. Grant, likewise, has released a few singles, including ‘Constellations‘ featuring Jessi Mason and ‘Starship‘.
Monstercat has released a number of noteworthy compilations this year. In May, the label released Monstercat Uncaged Vol. 1, and in July, it released a soundtrack for the video game Rocket League. Monstercat Uncaged Vol. 2 will undoubtably be yet another great addition to any EDM lover’s music library.
