Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter’s TR-909 Is Up For Sale

Here’s the chance to own a piece of electronic music history – a Roland TR-909 used by Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter is for sale.

Original presets used to produce famous tracks including ‘Homework’ and ‘Revolution 909’ are still loaded on the machine for sale.

Assigning a price tag to a machine that was part of many notable pieces of music is too difficult. Vintage and Analogue Occasion, the current owner of the TR-909 turned over the job of pricing to potential buyers. “Needless to say, it’s a collector’s item, so it’s impossible to set a price. We will sell it to the highest bidder.”

The listing was posted to Facebook on Tuesday and an interested buyer has already offered £10,000.

Roland TR-909s are valuable pieces of hardware. Depending on its condition, an original could cost £ 1,500. The price tag on this specific machine includes important historical value.

Daft Punk have created memorable tracks over the years and become icons in the electronic music world, garnering a sizable fan base. Fans and collectors around the world must be eager to get their hands on something that was used in the production of these iconic tracks. It would come as no surprise if offers for Bangalter’s TR-909 continue to go up.

Bangalter apparently accumulated more than 10 Roland TR-909s over the years. The one on sale is the fifth in his collection.

First introduced in 1983, the TR-909 was significant in its time because it retained analogue features while incorporating digital samples. It was also one of the first drum machines to have MIDI capabilities.

Years after the Roland TR-909 was first introduced, Bangalter continued to use it in his productions including 1997 release ‘Homework.’ Daft Punk and the TR-909 left a deep impact on electronic music, hopefully this machine’s new owner will cherish it.
