Martin Garrix’s “Animals” Turns 4 Years Old!

Martin Garrix, born as Martijn Gerard Garritsen, is a 21 year old Dutch EDM producer and DJ that is currently ranked the #1 DJ in the World according to DJ Mag‘s Top 100 DJs competition, and in the process he became the youngest No.1 DJ in DJ Mag history. He is currently a resident at Hï Ibiza and is the label head of STMPD RCRDS.

Garrix’s rise to fame is largely attributed to his massive breakout hit “Animals” which was released in 2013 – which makes it 4 years old as of Tuesday!
“Animals” is still considered one of the most iconic festival anthems to date, with its hard hitting drop, – which is evident by its over 1 billion views on YouTube.

Martin was first inspired to produce dance track after seeing fellow Dutch legend Tiesto perform in 2004 at the Olympic games in Athens. He began ghost producing for a close friend that eventually was signed by Spinnin’ Records, according to an interview with Dutch radio host Wessel van Diepen. After meeting with Spinnin’ management and showing his own productions, Martin went on to sign a record deal with them in 2012, and this partnership lasted until 2016 – when he branched off to found his own record label.

Since then, Martin has released numerous high-charting tracks such as Wizard, Tremor, Don’t Look Down Ft. Usher,In the Name of Love, and most recently his collaboration with Troye Sivan titled “There For You.
