Australian Band Parcels Enlist Daft Punk for Collaboration

Daft Punk Overnight

Daft Punk Overnight

When it comes to Daft Punk collaborations, most people think of Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, The Weeknd, Giorgio Moroder, Nile Rodgers, or other massive names with huge followings. That’s why it’s a little odd that Daft Punk just co-wrote and produced a track for an Australian group named Parcels, who only have less than 9,000 SoundCloud followers.

Parcels just release their brand new track, ‘Overnight‘ that is co-written and produced by the French duo of Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo and Thomas Bangalter. The track was created in a studio at a secret location in Paris, however first little other information was given.

In an interview with NME, Parcels gave some insight into the studio session crediting Daft Punk for not having a massive ego, despite the fact that they are some of the most famous producers in the world. “From the start to the finish, it was an equal collaboration with no pressure, only a desire to create something meaningful together,” the group said.

The track itself is upbeat and groovy sounding as if it could have been a part of Daft Punk’s 2013 album, Random Access Memories. While the track doesn’t feature Daft Punk’s singing talents, Parcels’ lead singer offers his soft vocals and catchy lyrics to perfectly mesh with the funky beat.
