The man behind the devastating terror attacks in Manchester has been identified as 22-year-old Salman Abedi. According to authorities, Abedi has lived in Manchester since 1994 when his parents immigrated from Libya. Authorities also arrested a suspected 23-year-old man at his home in South Manchester. The suicide bombing killed 22 people and injured 59 others.

Greater Manchester Chief Constable Ian Hopkins named Salman Abedi the suspect today. He comments, “I can confirm that the man suspected of carrying out last night’s atrocity has been named as 22-year-old Salman Abedi. However, he has not yet been formally identified and I wouldn’t wish, therefore, to comment further.” He continues, “the priority remains to establish whether he was acting alone or as part of a network.”

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack, but police are still trying to figure out if Abedi had any actual connection with ISIS or had another possible motive.

The heartbroken singer has suspended her tour until further notice and local authorities are continuing to investigate the situation while also assisting grieving families in the process. We as a community need to stand together in solidarity and support for the families dealing with the unexpected loss of life that took place last night. Stay tuned for more updates.
