Deadmau5 Planning “Unhooked” Cube Shows

Unhooked Cube

For years, Deadmau5 has been performing under two completely different styles: hooked and unhooked.

The hooked set has always been the show with the full cube and mau5head with massive production that is recreated at multiple shows around the same time. This is mainly due to the fact that the lights and visuals need to sync up to the music properly to create the perfect show.

On the other side of the spectrum, the unhooked set is when Deadmau5 has been able to play whatever music he wants in any style because he is not restricted by any lighting or visual cues. These are the sets where Deadmau5 often unleashes his dark techno side while also throwing in some troll tracks from his good friends Avicii and Martin Garrix.

Today, Deadmau5 took to twitter to announce that he plans to combine the two in a way by creating an “unhooked” version of the cube show. He specifically mentions that he can play whatever he wants, whenever he wants and it will be with the full production of his usual hooked sets.

If you’re lucky enough to witness this show one day, be prepared for a proper mix of techno and Levels while enjoying the mighty cube in action. Check out the tweet below and read Deadmau5’s brief explanation of his “unhooked” show from 2010 here.
