Welcome to Wicked Paradise: Los Angeles’ Hottest Pool Party

Wicked ParadiseThe sun is out. That means it’s time to dust of that swimsuit hibernating in your closet and dive head first into pool party season! Who doesn’t enjoy a bit of splishing and splashing in the sunshine listening to great tunes with a bunch of other beautiful half-naked people? Las Vegas might be the go to pool party destination for some, but things are heating up in Los Angeles with one particular party that should be on everyone’s must-attend list. Welcome to Wicked Paradise: 1 part sunshine, 1 part good vibes, and 1 part sick beats. Brought to you by two of Los Angeles’ hottest independent event companies, Ouija Entertainment and L’Affaire Musicale, this poolside oasis is not your average party. What can only be described as “wicked”, Wicked Paradise is everything you love about a pool party, minus everything you hate. Yup, that’s right. It’s a non-pretentious paradise filled with the best tunes, the coolest people, and a whole lot of dancing.

Wicked Paradise at The Rooftop at The StandardMatt Orlove (Ouija) and Tom Astley (L’Affaire) are the visionaries behind the Wicked Paradise series.

“Our vision was to bring something new and fresh to the Pool Party scene in LA.  We didn’t reinvent the wheel in any way, but we wanted to bring our great energy, and super fun party vibes to some of Los Angeles’ best venues with pools. There are not too many places in the world where you can virtually do this all year long.”

Los Angeles’ perpetual state of summer is definitely plus. So what makes Wicked Paradise unique? Besides booking cutting edge talent, these guys know how to build a community that comes back time and time again.

“On any given day, there are so many concert options for the fans to choose from.  What makes us unique is that we work hard to make each Wicked Paradise experience different from the last.  By diversifying lineups, venues, and themes, we are able to create an element of surprise for guests.  Although we do have a core audience, we refuse to stick to any particular genre and our audience can completely change from one show to the next. It’s not out of the ordinary for us to go all techno lineup one week, nu-disco the next, then future bass the following. The greatest compliment is for guests to come, regardless of who is on lineup, because they know they are going to have an amazing experience. The music will always be good.”

Wicked Paradise: AeroplaneTheir method works. With an incredibly successful first run of six shows last year, featuring the likes of Matoma, Kill Frenzy, Friend Within, Durante, Aeroplane, Faul and Wad Ad, Eau Claire, Jacklndn and Satin Jackets, among others, Wicked Paradise made a big splash.

“Our first season had so many highlights, but for us the ones that stand out are Matoma at Skybar at Mondrian, and Kill Frenzy & Friend Within at The Rooftop at the Standard.  The latter went up directly against HARD, and still sold out. The music and vibes were so on point and everyone was dancing from noon to night!

Now Wicked Paradise is back for its second season with big plans. Fans can expect a whole lot more this year with bigger shows, more parties, and some wicked collaborations.

“We are more than doubling the amount of events that we did last year and we’re looking to take the brand to other cities (NYC, Miami, & Vegas).  Quicksilver and Roxy have jumped on board as our official brand ambassadors and we’ve teamed up with one of LA’s longest standing pool parties, Afternoon Delight, to create a hybrid, WICKED DELIGHT, which is focused on bringing in some of the bigger named acts.  On top of all that, we are taking Wicked Paradise out to Sea. We’re launching the boat party series June 4th with Goldroom and some very special surprise guests we only wish we could disclose!”

Wicked Paradise: Satin Jackets at The Rooftop at The StandardThe new season kicked off earlier this year with two major shows: one featuring Moon Boots (Anjunadeep) on the decks, and the other featuring Eagles & Butterflies alongside Nathan Barato (Hot Creations). Turns out this only a small taste of what’s to come.

We’ve already started out really strong this year with Moon Boots, Eagles & Butterflies, and Nathan Barato. Up on deck we have Sweater Beats, Goldroom, Plastic Plates, JackLNDN, & Louis Vivet. That only gets us to June, so expect some big announcement over the next few weeks.”

Grab that sunscreen and pool-floatie, this is one boat you don’t want to miss!
