Buenos Aires Bans Electronic Music Festivals Following Time Warp Deaths

The future of dance music is at risk in Argentina. The Buenos Aires government recently said it will no longer be approving permits for major electronic music festivals. This news comes shortly after the death of five people at Time Warp Argentina. Horacio Rodriguez Larrea is the Mayor in Buenos Aires. He said the ban would remain in effect until a new law is created to prevent drug abuse at live music events. It is unknown how long this legislation process will take.

It is also unclear which political direction the nation will take. The government could create a South American version of the Rave Act, or it could take a more progressive approach in addressing drug usage. Hopefully electronic dance music returns to Buenos Aires soon. Their stern decision shocked and worried the dance community. We hope the government finds a positive and helpful solution to their event safety and drug problems.
