6 Unforgettable Ultra Moments To Get You Pumped For This Weekend

When hundreds of the world’s biggest electronic artists flock to one city for a week full of non-stop partying, you know there are bound to be some memorable stories. With Ultra Music Festival being Miami Music Week‘s main attraction, we thought it would be fun to get you guys stoked by looking back at some of the event’s most memorable moments.

deadmau5 Trolls Martin Garrix & Avicii

After Avicii was forced to cancel his appearance in 2014, deadmau5 stepped up to the plate and closed out Saturday’s festivities in style. The mau5 made his presence known by trolling Martin Garrix with the notorious “Old MacDonald Had A Farm” edit of Martin Garrix’s “Animals”. He then took things a step further by dropping a mashup of “Ghosts N Stuff” and Avicii’s “Levels”. This stunt ended up sparking some serious Twitter feuds and will go down as one of the most talked-about Ultra moments of all time.

Swedish House Mafia’s Final Set

After selling out dozens of shows around the world during their ‘One Last Tour’, Swedish House Mafia officially said goodbye to the electronic music community with an emotional final set at Ultra Music Festival 2013. Even though both Steve Angello and Axwell /\ Ingrosso graced last year’s main stage, nothing will ever compare to this remarkable performance.

Eric Prydz Invades ASOT

Armin van Buuren’s A State Of Trance stage is always one of our favorite features of the festival. Last year, Ultra caught us off guard by having progressive house  phenom Eric Prydz perform alongside some trance heavyweights. Ultimately, the crowd ended up welcoming Eric with open arms and he threw down a set for the ages. This year, his good pal deadmau5 will be joining him at the ASOT stage.

Above & Beyond Forced To Play Backwards In Pouring Rain

Instead of attempting to describe this eventful 2014 performance ourselves, we’re going to let Above & Beyond do the job:

“One of the more memorable shows of our lives thanks to some pretty crazy weather – thank you all for battling against the elements. The rain totally fried all our on-stage equipment around 16 mins into this video, forcing us to play on the reserve decks with our backs to the crowd and a giant LED rig blocking our view. The festival organisers played a dubstep mix of Sun Is Shining during the rain break – very appropriate. The video feed drops out 7 minutes from the end, also due to the inclement weather, but we figured you’d still enjoy the audio so we left it in – the pictures do also return right at the very end.”

Madonna Jokes About MDMA Before Performing With Avicii

Way back in 2012, Avicii brought out Madonna to debut his remix of her new single “Girl Gone Wild”. Unfortunately, the performance was overshadowed by the legendary pop star asking crowd members if they have “seen Molly”. Madonna’s tasteless joke ended up making headlines within the electronic music community as well as in publications around the world.

Skrillex Brings Out Diplo, Justin Bieber, Diddy & More

Even though our final moment took place a mere 12 months ago, that doesn’t make it any less unforgettable. Skrillex was given the honor of closing out last year’s festival and for his set, he decided to bring every possible special guest that you could imagine on stage. The Los Angeles producer received help from his Jack U parter Diplo as well as Kai, CL Kiesza and even Diddy. The action-packed extravaganza ended with a performance of “Where Are U Now” featuring Justin Bieber and his crazy dance moves.

What do you guys think this year’s biggest story will be? The return of Pendulum? Eric Prydz and deadmau5 at the ASOT stage? Martin Garrix debuting 9 new tracks during his headlining performance? Let us know in the comments!
