By now you’ve probably seen the funny Bernie/Hillary EDM memes going around, and while they’re a good laugh it’s easy to forget that there is 0% chance that either of them even knows what EDM stands for let alone anything those memes talk about. You could bet good money that almost no candidate for the White House could name a single dance music producer. Surprisingly, there actually is a White House candidate with a professed love for dance music and you might already know that candidate is Marco Rubio. The Miami native has already made waves in our world before talking about how he likes producers such as Swedish House Mafia and Tiesto and was asked by Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso to keep their tunes out of American politics. This week hot off his big bounce in the Iowa Caucuses, he talked about his campaign trail playlist in New Hampshire.

“Over the last couple years, I’ve gotten really interested into electronic dance music. So, Avicii, Calvin Harris,”

In what might sound like a familiar musical transition to many readers of this blog, Marco explained to CNN that he has recently shifted his tastes away from hip-hop like NWA and more towards dance music because the tracks are more kid friendly due to their clean lyrics. We’re guessing he probably hasn’t gotten into Trap yet. If Marco Rubio makes it to the White House, his kids would probably be the first Presidential children to attend Ultra Music Festival.
