[WATCH] Deadmau5 Premieres New Music At Game Awards

deadmau5 performing at an awards show is bonkers. But the 2015 Game Awards was the perfect platform to bring out the masked producer, who’s also a gamer himself as shown through his constant Twitch streams and collaborations with multiplayer online game Dota 2. The awards show took place at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown LA and was streamed on every console as well as YouTube and Twitch. Before Joel appeared, electronic trio Chvrches took the stage to perform Every Open Eye single “Leave A Trace.” But even before the Scottish trio had their moment, Joel was awkwardly interviewed backstage, where he was somewhat forced to compliment the new Star Wars game and talk about future music. The one thing the interviewer got right was the spectacular deadmau5 performance. Joel ended the show with a 5 minute set, showing off new music and giving video games a nod throughout. He appeared with and without the mouse ears during the duration; and even dawned a ghostly getup as a tribute to the enemy in the Super Mario series, Boo.
