David Guetta Named Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Artist Of The Year

Looking back at this year’s top performers, most people would expect the number one electronic artist to be whoever they like the most or thought had the most successful year; for many people, David Guetta would not be the first producer to come to mind. However, Billboard would argue otherwise.

Earning the Top Dance/Electronic Artist of the Year title, Guetta has shown that he deserves this honor for various reasons. His track “Hey Mama” with Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha and Afrojack spent an incredible 11 weeks at the top of the Hot Dance/ Electronic Songs chart, and finished at number three for the end of the year. The song also claimed the title of number one Dance/ Electronic Digital Singles. Moreover, the seasoned Frenchman has produced an additional 10 songs that made it onto the aforementioned hot chart, as well as having his album Listen named as the Top Dance/ Electronic Album.

As it is clear to see, Guetta had an incredibly successful career this year. However, that is not to say that he was the only artist to produce major hits in 2015. Three of  Calvin Harris‘ singles—”Outside” feat. Ellie Goulding, “Blame” feat. John Newman, and “How Deep Is Your Love” feat. Disciples—appeared on the year-end Hot Dance/Electronic Songs top 10, making him the only artist to achieve this accomplishment.

Other artists to score number one honors include Major Lazer, DJ Snake, Robin Schulz, and Axwell & Ingrosso. For a full comprehensive list on all the 2015 rankings, check out Billboard’s original article.
