JAHKOY – Hold Your Hand

The 2015 MTV VMA’s played host to bevy of some of the world’s greatest creative thinkers, as the award ceremony honored the pioneers directing, editing, choreography, and singing; artists like Kanye West, Taylor Swift, and Kendrick Lamar were some of the most notable winners amongst the star studded nominees, but these are all names we’ve seen over and over again and there’s one act we’re fully expecting to see attend -and dominate- in the years to come. That new name is JAHKOY. While not necessarily dance music in traditional sense, his musing sounds are complimented by some the cleanest productions around, and I’ll be damned his stuff doesn’t just wanna make you get up and move. His previous two releases, “Let It Be” and “Still in Love,” showcased his swiss-army-knife of a brain as he produced, wrote, and sang on each, and he’s back with yet another original that’s blown us away: “Hold Your Hand.”

The LA based singer/songwriter/producer is pushing musical boundaries every bit as much as Toronto-brethern, like The Weeknd, as he infuses electronic elements with his R&B soul to produce subtly addicting magic. “Hold Your Hand” utilizes everything from multi-layered vocal harmonies with tasteful electric filtering to Daft Punk-esque guitar riffs, and a beautifully bubbly bassline to keep things rolling, making this upbeat cut yet another example of how effective his “bipolar sound” can really be.

As an official Billboard Artist-to-Watch and raw talent like this, it’s no wonder he’s had two-sold out shows in the Big Apple. You can catch him at his debut LA show in September, and be on the lookout for his upcoming debut artist album, Temptations, set to release later this year!
