HARD Summer Suffers Two Tragic Deaths on Day One

With fierce competition from other event companies and festivals like Insomniac’s wildly successful EDC, and SFX’s Tomorrowland/World series, this year’s sold out HARD Summer has to make up for it’s relatively minimalist stage arrangements and festivities with a killer lineup; performances from the Weeknd, Porter Robinson, ODESZA, and Dillon Francis, Day 1 of HARD Summer got off to a stellar start musically. Unfortunately the glory of this lineup has been overshadowed in tragedy, before the festival could even complete both days.

Two young women have reportedly died of suspected drug overdoses, after attending the festival yesterday. The identities of the victims have not been released.

“An 18-year-old woman was transported to Pomona Valley Medical Center after collapsing at the music festival. She was pronounced dead at the hospital at 6:04 p.m.

A 19-year-old female was also found unresponsive and transported to Pomona Valley Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 8:10 p.m.” – ABC News

HARD will no doubt be on high alert going into day 2, as 65,000 attendees are set to flood the Fairplex again. No amount of deaths are acceptable at these events. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and families of the late young women, and we implore those going today to exercise utmost caution to stay safe.
