Daft Punk Documentary “Daft Punk Unchained” Premieres On French Television

Daft Punk, arguably the most iconic duo in electronic dance music, was the subject of a documentary produced by BBC Worldwide France. Directed by Hervé Martin Delpierre and co-written with Marina Rozenman“Daft Punk Unchained” aired on the French TV station Canal+ on June 24. It is currently available via streaming video in French and without subtitles.

The documentary revisits Daft Punk’s rise to fame and features a wide range of celebrities, which includes Kanye West, Pharrell, Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Skrillex, Pete Tong, Pedro Winter, and more.

The documentary divulges interesting bits of information about the famed duo, as we learn that not even their manager knew about their 2006 Coachella set until only a few days before, and they contemplated getting rid of their robot masks for good.

The press release states: “’Daft Punk Unchained’ recounts the quest for liberty and independence of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. In an era of globalisation and the expansion of social media, the two Parisian musicians, DJs/ producers have refused to show their own faces. They orchestrate every detail of their rare appearances.”
