The Chainsmokers tease #SELFIE follow-up, ‘Kanye’

The Chainsmokers know all about the term “all press is good press.” After their star was sent into the stratosphere with #SELFIE it seemed like everywhere you went you saw The Chainsmokers. It all culminated in an appearance on American Idol which drew the ire of almost every big artist; from Porter Robinson to Knife Party to Deadmau5, artists were sounding off on the nature of “selling out,” which seemed to be epitomized by the selfie. The dust has now settled and with the DJ Mag Top 100 voting underway the DJ duo from New York aim to show that they’re more than just a one trick pony with their new single “Kanye”, featuring the vocal stylings of Siren. Although we have only been offered a 15 second Instagram clip the vocals make a resounding statement: “one day I’ll stand with the crown on my head like a god, yeah like a god.” For now we’re forced to sit and wait in anticipation for the rest of “Kanye” until August 5th, when it becomes available on iTunes.
