Zedd Reveals Details On Forthcoming Album: “80% written & a few big and exciting collaborations”

Zedd album

Zedd has revealed some big news regarding his next album in an interview with Billboard, saying that he has written “about 80% of the songs for it. [This] is just the first step, a lot of them, I’d say half the songs, are pianos and vocals at this point. The most important thing is the music, and it’s written for the most part.” He went on to say, “I’m renting a studio in Malibu for the next two weeks and I’m going to lock myself in the studio and start producing those songs.”

Fans can now rejoice knowing that the sophomore album is along in the works, and that Zedd is going to take his time with it. “[Producing] is what takes time because you want to make sure that not everything sounds the same; you want to keep your style and balance between having your own signature and not sounding the same.” Zedd also hinted at some finer details of the album, but was careful not to give anything away. “I love finding artists that no one knows and giving them a spotlight. I found one girl who has an absolutely incredible voice and she’s on one song, and the other half are artists I’ve always wanted to work with. There are a few big and exciting collaborations that I don’t want to spoil.”

Zedd now joins the ranks of the elite artists with albums to be on the lookout for in 2014: Deadmau5, Tiesto, Porter Robinson, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Afrojack, Knife Party, Dillon Francis, Bassnectar, Nero, Arty and Flume are just some of the big names that have an album under works. Throw in the recently released Anjunabeats Vol. 11 and the news that Feed Me has a new EP set for release and 2014 is shaping up to be one of the best years in recent memories for electronic music.
