Zeds Dead – Somewhere Else EP Minimix

Six minutes might not seem like enough time to get a full preview of a new EP from Canadian duo Zeds Dead. Especially after an initial once-over of the tracklist, chock-full of collaborations including those with producers like Dirtyphonics and Big Gigantic, and vocalists like Bright Lights and Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell. But somehow, Hooks and DC manage to do it, collapsing their seven fresh new productions into one brilliant minimix for their forthcoming Somewhere Else EP.

Once hailed as dubstep demigods, Zeds Dead show off their diverse production styles (and killer DJing) in this little mix, borrowing from trap, house, DnB, and hip hop styles to establish their fresh new direction. As it’s been a while since fans have heard some serious originals from these dudes (their Hot Sauce EP is a year and a half old at this point), this minimix is sure to be welcomed with open arms and bass-craving ears. And in case you haven’t heard it yet, the EP’s first single, “Lost You”, featuring Twin Shadow and D’Angelo Lacy, has some super dancey house beats that come as quite a surprise for ZD.
