[Breaking News] Tragedy Strikes SXSW, 2 Dead & 23 Injured After Vehicle Plows Into Crowd

Tragedy struck SXSW Music Festival early Thursday morning at approximately 12:30 AM when a vehicle hit and killed two innocent bystanders and injured an additional 23. The accident happened on Red River Street and East 10th Street near a few nightclubs in Austin, Texas where the annual music, film, and interactive conference and festival takes place every year. The driver -who has since been taken into custody- evaded a DUI checkpoint and attempted to escape at high speeds. Consequently, the man struck and killed a couple on a moped before driving through a barricade and into the crowd of attendees. After the accident, the man fled from his car and attempted to escape — but was quickly taken down with shock guns. The man now faces two counts of capital murder.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims, and we wish a speedy recovery for those that have suffered from this tragedy. Below are pictures and videos from the incident, as well as tweets from artists in and around the scene.
