Hip Hop Star Waka Flocka Flame To Release EDM Album
“I went down there [to Miami] only for the ultra. That shit was crazy.”

Whether you’re proud or disgusted, it’s clear that EDM has stepped into the public eye. It’s an industry that is pouring in money and growing far faster than any other genre. That’s the good news. The bad news is that everyone that wants to make a dollar, now considers themselves a world renown DJ. Like Paris Hilton and Nick Cannon before him, Southern hip hop superstar Waka Flocka Flame is throwing his hat into the EDM community. Responsible for such hits as “O Let’s Do It”, “Hard in da Paint” and “No Hands,” Waka Flocka may not have much EDM experience, but if he fails it will not be due to a lack of confidence. In an interview with Hip-Hop DX, Waka Flocka had this to say, “Club jumpin’ like I’m Skrillex, get ‘em Diplo…’ The King of Rap EDM is me. I’ve been there. Punk rap, that’s EDM. People didn’t understand what I was saying, now they do. I see a lot of my students, I’m like the principal, I’m here to talk.”

Say what you want about the rapper, or this new trend of “EDM artists,” but this doesn’t seem like a publicity stunt for Waka Flocka. His album, which he has remained somewhat secretive about the release date, will include collaborations with Diplo, Skrillex, Flosstradamus, and uhh Miley Cyrus. Your guess is as good as mine as to what a Waka Flocka Miley Cyrus EDM song will look like.

He has announced that he will be releasing an album titled Flockaveli 2 on October 5th; however, there’s been quite a bit of debate about whether that will be the EDM album in question, or a completely different project. When asked about the sound of his EDM record Waka Flocka had only this to say, “That shit hard. It’s hard. It’s haaaaard.”

The only question that remains is who will be the next celebrity to release an EDM album?
